My first Mural.ly!

My first SFD
It was a day to remember for me last Saturday, September 15, 2012. I attended my first Software Freedom Day event and this time it was held in the Benitez Theater of the College of Education in the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City, Metro Manila. There were a lot of computer science students from some private college in Antipolo City, Rizal and a few of their teachers. Not even education students from UPD were in the event. In the morning was the plenary session and in the afternoon were breakaway sessions and the one for educators was the one I attended, that's FOSS for Educators. One observation I made about the said session was that there were only a few educators, (less than ten) and they were not even acknowledged by the presenters. Most of the attendees were from Antipolo. Rizal and it seemed like they were just asked to go there just to fill the 300-seater theater. My hope is that next year, more educators would be attending Software Freedom Day 2013 and I am even willing to help promote the event to my fellow educators and other educators in Metro Manila and Rizal.
